Barbie: Icon of the Moment

I think this might be yesterday's news.........But Dover Street Market celebrated Barbie's 50 year anniversary by giving Barbie a special space and organizing some of London's designers to create special Barbie outfits.

A favorite of mine is Roksanda Ilincic, the one with the purple top and black skirt.

Me......I LOVED Barbie as a child. I think I had 12 of them and one Cyndi. Even a Ken. Together with the house and car. Plus then of course millions of clothes to go with it.

If you're in London, I think you should go take a look if the Barbie space is still up. If not, You'll still enjoy the Wonder of Dover Street Market.

Inspiration For My Next Shoot!

This is
an old story that photographer Camilla Akrans shot for the magazine Numero with model Anja Rubik.

Basically this is a Fur and Jewelry story (styling wise) but we'll do ( I will do) something else.

Maybe more towards a David Hamilton type of shoot? Which by the way, this story reminds me of.

Or my Secret Garden??

Geronimo

To shop now: Geronimo's vintage style bathing suits. Wonderfully cool!!

ABOUT:

Geronimo is Jenny Reyes' middle name, no fooling. A Los Angeles designer with roots in Manila, she draws her inspiration from music, her grandmother who taught her how to sew, and the California sun.

For years she traveled the country with bands like Rilo Kiley and Jenny Lewis with The Watson Twins, designing the latter's now iconic stage outfits they wore on the 2006 world tour for the album Rabbit Fur Coat.

Time spent among this influential and trendsetting community of artists and musicians spurred Reyes to cultivate her own aesthetic, creating clothes that were at once sexy and playful but with a sophisticated nod to the well tailored vintage pieces that inspired her. Her experiences in the wilderness led to an incredible opportunity to intern for Rodarte, the groundbreaking designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy beloved by Anna Wintour and Karl Lagerfeld among many others.

Reyes continued to design her fledgling Geronimo collection while deepening her understanding of her craft on numerous album cover shoots and fashion spreads, styling Jenny Lewis and The Whispertown 2000 for the likes of Rolling Stone and Under The Radar magazine, where Lewis first unveiled Geronimo's bathing suits.

This first collection reflects the joy of discovery and lifelong passion of a young designer who shows much promise. Consider this to be the beginning of a long and beautiful story.
